1. Don't Skip Any Meals

This tip might seem kind of counterintuitive since you’re trying to eat less calories, but it is important that you don’t miss any meals, especially breakfast. Hitting a calorie deficit doesn’t mean starving yourself and your body needs energy to sustain itself. Having at least 3 planned out meals a day will fill you up, keep you from unnecessary snacking, and give you the energy you need to get through your day. Just make sure you’re intentional with what you’re eating for these meals.

2. Eat Slower

Okay, we know this one might seem a little weird, but you need to chew your food and eat more slowly. By doing so, your body will feel fuller faster and it prevents you from snacking later on or overeating in the moment. Not to mention, it also allows you to enjoy your meal and helps your digestive system do its job.

3. Drink A LOT of Water

Whenever your stomach starts to moan and groan, drink a glass of water. This will help you feel fuller and also keep you hydrated, so it’s a win-win! A lot of times when we think we’re hungry, our body is actually just super thirsty. It’s recommended that we drink 8 cups of water a day, but a lot of people don’t actually do, so by drinking when you think you’re hungry, you’re helping your body in more ways than one.

4. Amp Up the Protein

Eggs as a protein source

Foods that are high in protein help to make you feel fuller faster and for longer amounts of time. They help to control your appetite aka your tummy rumbles and also boost your metabolism, so you burn calories and fat quicker. If you want to eat less and really kick hunger in the butt, then opt for high protein foods like eggs.

5. Bye Bye, Sugar

We hate to break it to you, but sugar is not your friend. Sugars and artificial sweeteners might taste amazing, but when you’re trying to lose weight, snacks with high sugar content should be avoided at all costs. Sugar actually depletes your energy quickly and makes you hungrier than you were before. That’s why you’ll never be satisfied if you choose a sugary snack when you’re hungry. Sugar leads to overeating and even worse hunger pangs. If you want to lose the weight, ditch sugar.
